Terry Lee Wells, A True Nevadan

This Legacy page on the Nevada Women’s History Project website is made possible through a generous grant from the Terry Lee Wells Foundation and honors a woman who represented what it means to be a “Nevadan,” in every sense of the word. This Legacy page is intended to capture, and celebrate the contributions of all Nevadans, both by birth and by choice; female and male.

Many citizens make contributions to their families and social institutions, from community level to nationwide. Most receive little public recognition. This site provides a platform for wide exposure to the importance that each individual held to their families and state. It is our intent that this Legacy page will become an important unofficial record of Nevada history as it highlights the unique personalities and accomplishments of its residents.

For in the end, we are all proud Nevadans!

Joyce Cox

Joyce Cox, Nevada Legacy Page

The Nevada Historical Society docents are proud to sponsor this legacy page as a tribute to fellow docent and author Joyce Cox. On and off since 1974, Cox chose to make Washoe County her home until her passing in 2024. Much of her time was spent researching, sharing and exploring Nevada history. Here you will be able to access her educational videos, information about her life accomplishments and enjoy a first-hand account on what it was like to work with Cox on a project for the Nevada Women’s History Project, writing and researching the lives of the First Ladies of Nevada.
